Whenever anyone asked what he wanted to be, he would say doctor or an engineer just to please them. But in his heart of hearts, this was the path he wanted to follow. He came from a very affluent family so money was not an issue at all. He knew that his dad would be the most disapponted one of all. But he didn't care. He chose the location....under the cool shades of a Banyan tree near the Balaji temple and decided to start on his job the very next day. Ice-cream becomes a food staple.
5. Your favorite television show is a cartoon.
6. You're willing to kiss your child's boo-boo, regardless of where it is.
7. Your baby's pacifier falls on the floor and you give it back to her, after you suck the dirt off of it because your too busy to wash it off.
8. Spit is your number one cleaning agent.
SO TRUE: 9. You're up each night until 10 PM vacuuming, dusting, wiping, washing, drying, loading, unloading, shopping, cooking, driving, flushing, ironing, sweeping, picking up, changing sheets, changing diapers, bathing, helping with homework, paying bills, budgeting, clipping coupons, folding clothes, putting to bed, dragging out of bed, brushing, chasing, buckling, feeding (them, not you), PLUS swinging, playing baseball, bike riding, pushing trucks, cuddling dolls, roller balding, basketball, football, catch, bubbles, sprinklers, slides, nature walks, coloring, crafts, jumping rope, PLUS raking, trimming, planting, edging, mowing, gardening, painting, and walking the dog. You get up at 5:30 AM and you have no time to eat, sleep, drink or go to the bathroom, and yet...you still managed to gain 10 pounds.

More funny things i have experienced are:
1. Wearing pink/blue or yellow rubber-bands to work instead of the usual black (cause its not where i kept it last night)
2. Wearing maternity clothes to work cause i am very much behind in laundary.

Anniyan - The Verdict!

Looks like a great movie from this review. Here is how i go by solving it:
1. Take a print out of the borad (from the web)
2. choose a line or a column or a 3 by 3 grtid that has the maximum number of filled numbers.
3. Write down the numbers that can occupy each cell in the chosen line/column/grd by verifying the line rule, column rule and the grid rule.
4. If successful, you can find the correct number in each cell.
5. If not, just move on to the next line/column/grid and try ur luck there
;-)

usually, i don't like to play real tough puzzles. But this is not tough...its interesting and logically solvable.

line rule: every row must contain only one copy of the digit from 1 to 9.
column rule: every column must contain only one copy of the digit from 1 to 9.
grid rule: every grid must contain only one copy of the digit from 1 to 9.

Mohan - King of 80s ?

I would hate to see Mohan dancing around trees in today's movies. I had a nickname too.
My mom used to lovingly call me "lagose" (spelt as: Law Goes). My uncle got the best blast out of it. When i was a kid, i used to spend my holidays at my grandmom's place with all my cousins. In their presence, my uncle used to call me: Lagose....Muttagose (Cabbage in Tamil)....Kakkoose(no need to explain what that means). Understandably i used to get angry. When all my cousins laughed at me, i used to cry and hate my uncle. But now, thinking back, those were the best days...after u get kids of your own, u become an adult...no one would treat you like a kid.
Wondering what my blogname (Julishu) means ? It is a nickname too ;-)

Etiquette

There is a co-worker in my work-place who is hated by everyone for his arrogance and many other things. Here is a list of "Rules" we all framed for him:

1. Use Kleenex. Snorting loud is disturbing and unpleasant for others. It can be very distracting.

2. Do Not Talk To Yourself. People will think you're crazy and may not want to work with you.

3. If you've never been to Kosovo, please keep political discussions to yourself. Only those who have been shot get to talk politics. In addition, unless your last name is Greenspan you’re not allowed to talk about economics.

4. Keep the singing to a minimum, especially because you suck at it.

5. If You Eat Melon, cut it up. Do not eat over your garbage can and slurp so the entire office can hear.

6. Keep the package displays to a minimum, nobody wants to see a guy in tights.

7. If you're going to be a cheap-ass, fine. But keep your monetary views to yourself, most people like being respected.

8. No sprinting around the office, please keep movements to a light jog at all times.

9. Bathe regularly, and brush your teeth and wash at home. Your office is not your bathroom. No one likes a smelly neighbor.

10. No cackling, all laughter must be of normal pitch and volume. Cackles scare people and make them wonder about your sanity.

11. Please don't yell at crazy people on the street. Just because they're crazy doesn't mean you have to be.

12. While the word “like” is a part of the English language, it’s not the only word. Please use this AT MOST once per minute of talking. Also, please try to finish sentences with a minimum of pauses.

13. Coupons are not a source of income. It is not considered polite to hassle employees for their coupons, ask for their coupon books, or take the coupon books of employees that have left the company. Expired coupons are especially unacceptable. Under no circumstances do you tell women that you use coupons, and ESPECIALLY NOT ON DATES. Also, you are not to use a coupon at the same establishment at every visit, at most you may use a coupon once every three visits.

14. If you throw stuff at the bar while drinking, expect to get beaten within an inch of your life.

15. Bodily noises are unacceptable under any and all circumstances. We’d rather see you explode like a cherry bomb than smell the consequences of the anchovies you ate for lunch.

16. Brake fluid goes in the master cylinder, not in the power steering pump.

17. Ski helmets and goggles are to be worn outside. You might frighten someone, and the receptionist WILL hit the panic button.

War of Worlds

Want to read the book without buying it ;-) Check out this link.
But it doesn't give the satisfaction of owning the book.
Check out the teasers of this movie being release on June 27th.

Booked The Tickets!

Finally...we are going to India for a vacation (barely 2 weeks). Take my kid to the park i used to go to when i was a kid.
But we need to do 2 "mottais" for our kid.
I wonder if i wouild be able to do all these in 2 weeks.
Life SUCKS in US.
Wish i had never come here.

Why did the Sine go out in the sun?

cos he wanted a tan

Creativiy At Work ?

Does that sound un-acheivable ?
Well...research says plants/flowers at work place make the employees creative.

Star Wars - Making People "Bunk" Work

Read this article recently in Google news. It made me think about what my husband said yesterday.
He wa ssaying that the first StarWars film came out in 1977. Say children of age 10 or higher would have been smitten big time by the new film. It is 2005 now. Those children of age 10 would have become men/women (although its men who are more crazy about this film) of age 38 or higher. Given the fact that they are more matured than a child 10 years old, are they still so crazy about that film now ? Thats ridiculous.
But then it reminds me of our old cine hero: Thalaivar.
I have to admit...it is possible!

Manirathnam's Films

I watched Yuva yesterday. I realized why that film flopped at the box-office. Its too boring! Many reviews i read before said there wasn't much time left after the first half to develop and complete the story. Thats BS. There is plenty of time! Infact, there is too much time. Manirathnam is good in doing love stories...ofcourse every film of his has a love story. I meant to say he is good in JUST love stories....he shouldn't adulterate it with other things.

Whats the deal with North Indian singers singing in Tamil films. Have the music directors gone crazy ? Whats the idea behind torturing Tamil like this ? What is it that those singers have which the native, tamil-speaking singers don't ?

That reminds me. My first language in school was English and my second language was Hindi. My mother-tongue was never taught to me. Thats so pathetic. I have always wanted to read Kamba Ramayanam in Tamil. Guess thats going to remain a dream. So, don't send me hate-mails if you don't agree with this post.

Ilayaraja: I haven't listened to his songs much. But from whatever i have heard, he is THE BEST. No doubt about it. He can create magic even without background music. Take for example the "pottu vaitha oru vatta nila".

Rehman: I can repeatedly listen to *most* of his songs and not get bored. He has the magic touch! (probably he *had* it...i don't see much of his music lately)

Harris: He is not up to it folks. He can probably use all the instruments in world and create a song...but it won't be a hit for sure. Some of his songs click. No doubt about it. But not all of them like Rehman's. He has a long way to go. I recently listened to the songs in "Anniyan" and they don't impress me. Don't tell me he spent 8 months on this...

Doing an autopsy

I had always wanted to become a doctor. The intricacies of an operation, the complex functioning of human body have always fascinated me. When i was in my teens, i used to read every single Robin Cook's novels ofcourse, later on when i figured out that every book had the same kind-of climax, it just put me off). The NBC's drama-series "ER" has always made me sit glued to the television.
Just take the birth of a child for example. How does a mass of flesh and blood get life immediately once out of the womb ? How does a child do the right things at the right time ? like...how does the child know to crawl around 6months or walk when its over a year. For that matter, why is the life-span of humans not more than 100 years ? When i start thinking of such unexplained theories, i am just filled with awe for God's creations.

But today, i came across a news which put my love for the field of Medicine into question. Check out the news about necropsy on a whale. I never thought about the bad stench during an autopsy/necropsy. How can the people who do that procedure stand the bad stench ? I have read detailed autopsies done by doctors in many novels. I was always intrigued by their findings...not a second did i realize the bad odour that they had to bear.

I am really in awe of those doctors.

Compromises

I am feeling very dejected today...reason: i just cancelled an interview with a company cause the work place is very far away from were i drop my kid.
It might seem a genuine and necessary reason to you. Probably i should feel the same. But something is nagging me. If it were my husband, he would have accepted the job. But since its me, i have to give first priority to my kid. Not that i don't want to. But wouldn't it be nice if my husband drops and picks up our kid from the day-care ?
Ok...i am just trying to point fingers at someone or other now.
I know i will get scores of good jobs later...but thinking about compromises, i feel its the women who do it more than the men.
After a kid, i now feel that career in my life has got a back-seat.

I do love my kid...no question about it. But should i forget about my career too ? Is "taking risk" no longer allowed in my life ?

What about my dreams of going to Egypt or Galapagos islands ?
Am i ever going to watch late-night-serials in future ?
What would happen if i just forget to clean the kitchen or wash utensils just for a day ?
CHAOS! Call all my friends (those who still are...and those whom i lost somehow) and tell them how lucky i am to have them in my life.

Well...thats it...and then i would think of all the happy times in my life and thank god for it.
Any regrets ?
None at all.
Any fears ?
None...just excitement...after all it would be another adventurous journey.

After coming to work, i got a call from my boss saying she won't be in today cause her dog died...
talk about coincidences...

check

.

Suppose...

Did you listen to this peppy number by Vijay Antony from the film "Sukran" ? Why hasn't anyone compe up with something like that ?

How Did I Start ?

Hmm...this is just for my record. The reason behind his question was: if a noise occurs behind you, you can find the direction of the noise very easily. Is it as easy to find the direction of a smell in a similar way ?
He felt that since both the nostrils are very closeby, its difficult for the nostrils.
